Is it return transport?

Yes. The price covers the return journey: collection from your Cape Town City Centre accommodation, transport to Hermanus New Harbour, and the return transfer to your Cape Town accommodation after your boat-based whale-watching trip is completed.

Where do you collect us?

We collect from accommodation in the standard Cape Town City Centre pickup area, which includes the City Bowl, Foreshore, V&A Waterfront, Green Point, Sea Point, Gardens and De Waterkant. Pickups outside this area are quoted on request.

Can large groups book this transfer?

Yes. From six guests onwards the transfer is charged at R750 per person, and there is no six-person maximum. Larger private groups are welcome — we arrange an appropriate vehicle according to group size.

Are whale-watching boat tickets included?

No. Whale-watching boat tickets are additional and are booked separately. Hermanus boat rates are Adult R1,500, Pensioner R1,400, Student R1,400, Child under 12 R750 and Child under 3 free.

How long does the journey take?

Hermanus is roughly 120 km from Cape Town. This private transfer uses the direct N2 route and takes about 1.5 hours each way. The scenic Clarence Drive coastal route takes around 2 hours each way and is included in our Private Hermanus Whale Watching Day Tour.

What happens if the boat trip is cancelled due to weather?

Boat departures are weather and sea-condition dependent. If your boat trip is cancelled, the boat booking is rescheduled or refunded by the operator. The road transfer itself is unaffected by sea conditions, and we will confirm arrangements with you directly.

Can you collect outside the Cape Town City Centre?

Yes, on request. Pickups outside the standard Cape Town City Centre pickup area — for example the airport, Southern Suburbs, Constantia, Hout Bay, Somerset West or Stellenbosch — are quoted individually.

Cape Town to Hermanus Transport for Whale Watching

Most guests booking this service are staying in Cape Town and travelling to Hermanus for boat-based whale watching in Walker Bay. Hermanus is the destination; between June and early December it is one of the best places in the world to see Southern Right Whales — both from the Cliff Path and from the water.

Because your transfer is private, your Cape Town pickup time is coordinated with your whale-watching departure in Hermanus. We collect you from your Cape Town City Centre accommodation and take you directly to Hermanus New Harbour. Once your boat-based whale-watching trip is completed, you will return to Cape Town.

This is transport only: there are no sightseeing stops, lunch stops, Cliff Path stops, wine-tasting stops or guided activities included.

Travelling with us also means your transport and your Hermanus whale watching trip are coordinated by the same team.

Going Whale Watching in Hermanus?

The transfer gets you there — the whales are the reason to go. Our 1.5 to 2 hour boat-based trip departs from Hermanus New Harbour into Walker Bay, the calving ground of the Southern Right Whale. Boat tickets are booked separately from the transfer.
